On Tuesday I received an email from The R&A  telling me that it was “staging a dedicated Rules Week across its digital platforms this week (15 – 17 February), designed to engage golfers and referees alike across a variety of themes.”  My first thought was, “I wish I worked for the R&A where a week’s work only takes three days!!!”

I watched several of the videos they released and found some interesting points in the one below, which follows New Zealander George Harper Jnr (who appears in the R&A’s Junior Rules Skool videos) around the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, accompanied by the R&A’s rules expert, Grant Moir.  Whilst conditions in Tyrone are far from desert-like (especially these days!) there are still several points that are relevant.  I haven’t played with anyone whose ball got stuck up a palm tree, but I have seen my playing partner’s ball get trapped in a conifer. We were playing casual golf so we didn’t get need binoculars to see if we could identify it, but the video highlights the need to mark your ball!

Watch and learn!
