Gary Player famously said, “The more I practise the luckier I get” however there’s no doubt that sometimes lady luck shines more brightly than others. I remember playing the 16th on a summer’s evening when one of my playing partners hit her approach shot. Unfortunately it veered towards the big tree left of the green, however we stood, open mouthed, as it clattered off the tree and eventually rolled down one of the branches… it ended up at the edge of the green! Now, if that had been my ball it would probably have wedged itself between two branches, six feet off the ground!
