One of my friends broke her shoulder a couple of weeks before Christmas and after lots of physio and much frustration she eventually got the go-ahead from the medics to ease herself back into golf.  Well, she has never been one for taking any sport gently, so I always suspected that she would find “easing” herself back quite a challenge!  Nevertheless I invited her to join my three-ball last Tuesday as we played 18 holes and she actually did as she was instructed – she just brought her 8 and 9 irons, pitching wedge and putter and threw her ball down and started playing once we got a good distance down the fairway.  After a few holes of pitching and putting her confidence grew and after another few holes she was hitting her 8 iron further than I was hitting any of my irons!!! We joked that it would be fun to play the whole course with just a 7 iron and a putter.

With that idea in mind, here’s the European Tour’s “One Club Challenge”. It’s not quite the same, but it’s fun!

Some day I will play Dungannon with only my 7 iron and a putter!!!
