I hope you’re keeping well and coping with these difficult times.  This week’s blog is different from usual, as up and down the country golf courses remain closed but more importantly our world has become unrecognisable due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  As much as we’d like to be out on the fairways, we really must stay at home and protect our loved ones and workers delivering essential services, particularly those in the NHS.

If you’re keen to work on your chipping technique, watch this video of Stephen Deane,  Teaching Professional at Emirates Golf Club, explaining how to play the perfect chip shot, step by step.

Practise this in your garden or up and down the hall so you can look forward to lower scores when you return to the game.
You’ll have noticed from Stephen’s accent that he’s from Northern Ireland, in fact he began his professional career in 2004 at Royal County Down.
With being at home I thought I’d have more time to exercise and dreamed of shedding lots of weight, however the closest I’ve got to that is joining in with the odd on-line exercise session and watching Rory McIlroy do his insane workout!
If you, like me, need some encouragement to get up and get active, why not join Joe Wicks (The Body Coach).  He’s been streaming 30 minutes of PE live on his You Tube channel, click here, since the schools closed, but it’s free for anyone of any age to use.  You can join him live at 9.00 am or, if that’s too early, you can watch it later in the day.  If you’ve children at home it’s good for getting rid of some of their energy, but if you find it too energetic you might want to have a go at some of his other 250 workouts (including Workouts for Seniors). Click here to visit his You Tube channel.  I don’t know whether he’s working on Easter Monday, but if he isn’t you can try one of last week’s workouts.
